This vehicle rental specialist operation is looking to employ a Fleet Manager in Auckland whose main role will be to optimise fleet utilisation while minimising maintenance costs.
About the employer and the role
The employer is a 100% Kiwi owned business with several branches across New Zealand that pride themselves on their standards of customer service.
Duties will include but not be limited to the following:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive fleet strategy: Aligned with business objectives and future growth.
- Maximise fleet efficiency: Ensure optimal vehicle availability and utilisation for both rental and employee use.
- Optimise fleet deployment: Strategically position vehicles across branches to meet demand and minimise downtime.
- Maintain meticulous fleet documentation: Implement and enforce a standardised system for vehicle paperwork across all branches.
- Guarantee vehicle safety and compliance: Rigorously inspect and maintain all vehicles to meet all safety and regulatory standards before rental or employee use.
- Proactively manage and reduce maintenance costs: Implement cost-saving measures and preventative maintenance programs.
- Negotiate favorable terms with suppliers: Build strong relationships and secure competitive pricing for parts, repairs, and services.
- Conduct regular and thorough fleet audits: Identify areas for improvement and ensure consistent adherence to company policy.
- Provide comprehensive fleet training and support: Develop and deliver training programs for staff, offering ongoing guidance and assistance, and assist in recruitment
- Oversee workshop operations and productivity: Drive efficiency and best practices within the company's vehicle maintenance workshops.
- Manage fleet disposals: Effectively manage the sale of vehicles when necessary.
The skills sought
This is an integral role in the business so the person who assume the role will need to be a strong leader with solid communication skills and a high level of professionalism.
- Prior proven, relevant fleet experience is essential
- You must have solid communication skills, both verbal and written
- Rental car industry experience is highly advantageous
- The ability to lead a team
- Strong problem solving capability
- Demonstrated competency using computers and spreadsheets
- Good attitude and work ethic
- Clean driver's license
