Job Description

We are working with a reputable suburban firm seeking a Solicitor or Senior Solicitor with proven experience in civil and family law litigation to join their team situated in Ponsonby. The successful candidate will report directly to two partners, providing an excellent opportunity for professional growth.

Key Responsibilities

As a Solicitor/Senior Solicitor, your role will be diverse and challenging. Your passion for supporting clients will shine through as you provide sound legal advice and representation while balancing client’s expectations and ensuring robust and mature approach to difficult matters. Your responsibilities will include:

  • independently attend court for most routine matters relating to civil and family litigation – focusing on general civil disputes, estate and employment disputes as well as separations, relationship property, care of children, PPPRA, and family violence cases;
  • Legal research and analysis;
  • Provide sound legal advice and representation to clients;
  • Meticulous attention to detail in reviewing and drafting court documents;
  • Work collaboratively with the wider team on complex matters;
  • Case management;
  • Focus on staying abreast of legal developments and professional development;
  • Maintain regular and professional communication with clients and stakeholders.


To be Successful in the role you should have:

  • No less than 3+ years of post-qualification experience (PQE), in civil litigation or family law (doing some legal aid work). Experience in employment law is favourable but not essential.
  • Admitted in New Zealand with proven litigation ability.
  • Hold a valid driver’s license.
  • Commercially astute and client focused ensuring you take a client focused approach to providing effective legal advice.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
