We have an opportunity for a Platform Lead to join our Workplace Technology team, focused on Communication & Collaboration.

Mō te Tūranga | About the Role 

This position will play a critical role managing and enhancing the tools our colleagues need to collaborate and communicate at BNZ. You will balance leading and developing your team while maximising the value delivered, ensuring alignment with our colleagues needs, stakeholder expectations, and our BNZ Workplace Technology strategic goals.

What are some day-to-day tasks the successful candidate in this role will complete?

  • Platform Roadmaps: Define and communicate a clear platform vision and strategy aligned with the BNZ Workplace Technology strategic goals, driving the platform team towards operational excellence.
  • People Leadership: Lead your technical team through all employee lifecycle stages—attraction, recruitment, onboarding, development, retention, and offboarding. Foster a culture of trust, collaboration, and accountability to drive performance and alignment with business goals.
  • Data-Driven Decisions: Apply data analysis and metrics to support decisions that enhance platform reliability, performance, and usability.
  • Prioritization: Prioritise platform enhancements based on customer value, business impact, and resources, ensuring application management aligns with the Critical Hygiene Framework
  • Risk Management: Mitigate technology risks to ensure security, compliance, and resilience. Resolve incidents to meet recovery SLAs, conduct post-incident reviews, and prioritize actions to improve availability


What skills are required for this role?

We’re looking for someone who has experience with communication and collaboration technologies in an enterprise, focused on the below capabilities:

Email & calendaring technologies – including Exchange Online.
Voice, video & chat - Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Teams Rooms, Zoom, enterprise telephony.
Enterprise communications technologies – Microsoft Viva Suite (Viva Engage, Viva Amplify Viva Connections), Microsoft SharePoint Online.
Collaborative ideation – Miro, Microsoft Whiteboard.
Workspace technologies – on desk technology, Microsoft Places, Serraview.

An understanding of network fundamentals in order to support and deliver the above technologies is essential. You will also bring:

  • Excellent understanding of other modern workplace technologies.
  • People Leadership: Experience developing technical teams through all stages of the employee lifecycle.
  • Proven experience in managing external vendors, ensuring adherence to project timelines and scope.
  • Project planning and coordination experience.
  • Knowledge and/or experience within the banking industry.
  • A keen eye for spotting technical and delivery issues and the ability to not only solve these issues but look for ways to continually improve and learn from those issues.

Success in this role will be demonstrated by effectively driving the platform team towards operational excellence, ensuring alignment with customer needs, stakeholder expectations, and BNZ’s strategic goals. The candidate will also be successful in promoting a culture of trust, collaboration, and accountability, and ensuring platform stability, scalability, security, and compliance.
