The Parks & Community Facilities Department is committed to making ‘Great Places Aucklanders Love’ while supporting a number of related services such as asset management and the assessment and renewals of existing buildings and structures. Committed to a lifecycle approach to asset management, we work to build, maintain and renew our community buildings and public spaces including parks, walkways, libraries, swimming pools and leisure centres.
We have an exciting opportunity for someone looking to become trained and qualified in working in the Asbestos field and assisting our team across Asbestos Projects.
This developmental role is ideal for an enthusiastic and energetic person to assist the Senior Asbestos Assessor in their day-to-day functionality. This will include Asbestos sample collection and getting it tested before providing a clearance plan.
All asbestos specific training will be provided to you, but previous experience in construction, asbestos removal, or asbestos surveying could be considered an added advantage.

Key to what we’re looking for is good interpersonal and relationship skills – able to communicate well with a wide range of people, and a willing and keen attitude to learn within the asbestos space.
You will be expected to complete the British Occupational Hygiene Society (BOHS) IP 402 (Surveying and Sampling Strategies for Asbestos in Buildings) within 6 months of commencing in the role.
