Job Description

  • Perm, full-time role 1.00pm – 9.30pm – Sunday to Thursday based in Hamilton.

Pathways is a leading national provider of community-based mental health, addictions and wellbeing services in Aotearoa. We’re all about transforming mental health and addictions through our Pathways (adult) and Real (youth) services. In fact, we’ve been doing it for 30 years, supporting around 6,000 people each year.

The Role | Mō tēnei tūranga mahi
Our mobile services are designed to meet people where they are, offering support in the environment that best suits their needs—whether it’s in their home, workplace, or within their community. We empower tāngata whai ora to choose the setting that feels right for them.

Our team provides personalized, one-to-one support or group-based assistance, tailored to help individuals and their whānau lead full, connected, and meaningful lives.

We also provide it when people most need it, so we’re normally available seven days a week.

Our support includes :

  • talking and connecting
  • understanding your needs
  • helping you achieve everyday activities
  • identifying goals and helping achieve these goals
  • creating a connection with the community
  • living a healthy life and improving physical health
  • medication support
  • securing and thriving in training or a job.


As tāngata whai ora have different needs, we tailor the amount and types of support we provide to each person. This changes as needs and preferences change.

We are looking for skillful, flexible Kaimahi (staff) that can work with wide range of people and be a team player.

You | Mōu

Preferred applicants who hold the level 4 New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (NZCHW) or a recognised equivalent. Alternatively, you will be willing to commence study towards this within six months of starting your employment with Pathways. This needs to be completed within two years of commencement. Pathways offers significant support for support workers to complete this study.
You must hold New Zealand residency or have a current New Zealand work permit.
You must hold a current full New Zealand driver’s licence.
You must hold a current first aid certificate or be willing to obtain one.
An understanding and commitment to the principles of recovery.
Knowledge of, and demonstrable commitment to, the principles of the Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
