He angitūtanga: The opportunity
Auckland Council is seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual for the role of Principal Specialist Alcohol Licensing. In this role, you will provide professional guidance, advice, support and expertise in all alcohol licensing matters, contributing to positive outcomes for Auckland by minimizing alcohol-related harm and supporting the safe and responsible sale, supply, and consumption of alcohol.
The focus of the role will include:
- Developing and implementing initiatives to expedite licensing and compliance work.
- Identifying and initiating opportunities for improvement within the team.
- Supporting the team as it continues to embed quality management principles.
- Ongoing training and support for our kaimahi.
He kōrero mōu: About you
As the ideal candidate, you bring a wealth of experience in the regulatory environment and have a deep understanding of the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012 and its regulations. Your strong oral and written communication skills, along with your ability to negotiate and persuade, will enable you to effectively support our kaimahi in licensing proceedings. You are skilled at managing multiple priorities and are committed to continuous improvement, always striving for the best outcomes for public health and safety.
In addition, you will have:
- A tertiary degree in law, policy, regulatory compliance, or a related discipline.
- At least 7 years' experience in a regulatory environment.
- Experience in the application of alcohol-related legislation and compliance.
- Strong technical expertise, including the use of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach with a keen attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
