Ko tō tūranga – your role
The Senior Platform Engineer will play a pivotal role in shaping our data platform infrastructure. You'll be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable, reliable systems to support efficient data processing and analytics. Ko tō mahi – what you’ll do

  • Design, implement, and manage data platform infrastructure using Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data engineers, data analysts, and data scientists, to understand infrastructure requirements and implement scalable and reliable solutions.
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure provisioning and configuration management, ensuring efficient and consistent deployments.
  • Monitor and optimize the performance, security, and cost-efficiency of the data platform infrastructure, making recommendations for improvements as needed.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure-related issues and performance bottlenecks, working closely with the operations and development teams.
  • Ensure compliance with security and governance policies for data platforms, implementing best practices for data protection and access controls.
  • Collaborate with the DevOps team to define and implement infrastructure-related standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends in infrastructure automation and cloud platforms, making recommendations for adopting new tools and practices.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior platform engineers, fostering knowledge sharing and continuous learning within the team.


Na tōu rourou - what you’ll bring

  • Proven experience as a Platform Engineer or similar role, with a focus on data infrastructure.
  • Strong expertise in Terraform for infrastructure automation and management.
  • Solid understanding of CI/CD principles and experience with tools such as Git, Jenkins, or similar.
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation using languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms, particularly Azure and AWS, and their data services (e.g., S3, Blob, ADF).
  • Experience in designing and managing scalable, reliable, and secure data platform infrastructure.
  • Strong knowledge of networking, security, and infrastructure architecture principles.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools like Dynatrace.
  • Experience with infrastructure monitoring and log management tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK stack.
