Te wero – The Challenge
You will support the Manager for Strategy and Policy by developing, implementing and monitoring Council’s strategies and policies. You will also lead and support the projects that will deliver the Strategies and Policies to Council, coaching and mentoring staff involved on these projects on the way.
Other key responsibilities;
- Advise Council on proposed legislative changes that may impact on Council
- Develop policy and position statements, submissions, and advice on matters of strategic importance to Council
- Prepare and deliver Council Reports as per the schedule of Council meetings
- Design guidelines for the implementation of new policies in line with legal organisational requirements
ā koe - About You
- You are likely to be an expert in the public policy environment, have knowledge of the Local Government Act, have highly developed skills of persuasion and influence and excellent relationship and development skills particularly with Māori/iwi/hapu
- A relevant tertiary qualification and substantial experience in strategy policy development and planning coupled with strong project management experience is essential.
