We are delighted to be exclusively partnering with a global private equity fund and recent entrant in the New Zealand market. Our client focuses on investing in technology and tech-enabled businesses across Australia and New Zealand.
The fund directly invests in profitable businesses or those on a rapid path to profitability, with revenue ranging from $15m - $150m. With a proven track record, it successfully partners with management teams to drive business transformation and growth, navigating businesses through various economic and market cycles.
Having successfully exited several investments in Fund I, the firm has recently closed Fund II, an AU$650 million fund, further strengthening its ability to support high-growth businesses. As the fund continues to grow, we have been mandated to recruit a newly created Associate position in their newly established Auckland office.
The Opportunity
Key responsibilities include:
- Financial analysis/modeling, presentation preparation, deal structuring, business analysis and due diligence for:
- New investment opportunities
- Portfolio management
- Exit preparation and execution
- Market research including pro-active sector and company targeting, including internet and database research into industries, transactions and private equity deal activity.
-Project management of due diligence process including:
-Advisors, particularly accounting, legal and commercial due diligence
-Data room and Q&A
-Preparation of investment papers and models
-Legal Documentation and completion
- Portfolio company management, including routine monitoring and reporting
- Interaction with other stakeholders in performing the above, including:
- Portfolio company executives and MBO teams, particularly the CFO
- Vendors and their advisors, during due diligence processes
What You Will Bring
- Solid financial analysis skills and ability to assess normalised maintainable earnings;
- Strong modelling skills to prepare complex models concisely with appropriate business drivers, prepare 3-way financial statements and test sensitivities and returns;
- Some understanding of typical deal structures and how to model them;
- Able to assess, distil and communicate key issues with new deals and portfolio businesses;
- A motivation for the prospect of a long-term career path in Private Equity in the Technology sector
We are seeking candidates with a genuine passion for the technology and software sector and 3–6 years of experience at a top-tier global consulting firm or a global/top-tier investment bank (with M&A/ECM experience). We also welcome interest from returning New Zealanders currently working offshore.
In return, our client offers a top-of-market compensation package, including a highly competitive base salary, annual bonus, and carry. The successful applicant will be required to spend 3 - 6 months in Sydney at the fund’s Australian-based office for initial training and onboarding.
