Policy Advisor (Junior/Graduate) He angitūtanga: The opportunity
We are looking for a Policy and Advocacy Advisor to join our friendly and collaborative Advocacy and Policy team at the Property Council New Zealand.
In this role, you will be the voice for the property sector. On behalf of our members, you will support the Advocacy team by working with central and local government to ensure policy makers make informed decisions that benefit our industry and wider communities.
You will help support the team to develop, implement, and monitor advocacy strategies that advance our members’ interests, and the interests of the wider property industry. Advocacy strategies will be developed regionally for local government and nationally for central government.
Your analytical nature and critical thinking skills will help foster policy development that enhances the lives of New Zealanders and fuels the economy.
This is a full-time role based in Auckland. Due to the collaborative nature of this role, we expect a minimum four working days in the office.
He kōrero mōu: About you
- Ideally have a degree in law, politics and/or economics.
- Experience working in central or local government or a membership organisation is of benefit. An understanding of New Zealand’s political system and the legislative process.
- Have skills in policy, advocacy, critical thinking and research. Excellent written and oral capabilities.
- A strategic thinker with political nous. who can quickly grasp unfamiliar topics and draw connections to input into policy development.
- Polished communicator with excellent interpersonal and stakeholder communication skills, enabling you to quickly build strong relationships across the organisation and the industry.
- A team player who is not afraid to test new ideas and enjoys a challenge.
- Will happily embrace Property Council New Zealand’s behavioural aspirations and actively add value to the culture of our team.
