About Us:

Welcome to the 101 Cafe Experiment, where creativity and community collide. Located within the University of Waikato Tauranga Campus, we serve as both a social hub and a culinary laboratory. Our ever-evolving menu features strong coffee, smoothies, salads, sweet treats, and savoury scones, alongside innovative dishes crafted from local produce. We invite our patrons to unplug and catch up, or plug in and get some work done, all while enjoying our latest culinary experiments.

Position Overview:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and customer-focused Waitperson to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for exceptional service, some experience in the kitchen, a keen interest in innovative cuisine, and the ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Greet and seat customers, providing a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Present and explain menu items, including daily specials and experimental dishes.
Take accurate food and beverage orders and relay them to the kitchen staff promptly.
Serve food and beverages efficiently, ensuring a high standard of service.
Monitor and attend to the needs of customers, addressing any inquiries or concerns.
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of dining areas and service stations.
Process payments accurately and handle cash transactions responsibly.
Help our chef when needed.
Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth café operations.
Stay informed about menu changes and provide feedback on customer preferences.

Qualifications:

Previous experience in a café or restaurant setting is preferred but not essential.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Strong multitasking and organizational abilities.
A positive attitude and a genuine passion for customer service.
Flexibility to work during café hours: 7 am to 3 pm, Monday to Friday.
