We have an opportunity for a Senior Business Analyst to provide expert analysis and consultation activities to key business process optimization projects within the Research and Innovation portfolio. This role is all about driving meaningful change, focussing on process improvement and identification of automation opportunities with the aim of enhancing and innovating the delivery of Research services.
A significant part of the role will involve discovery work where you will review and map current processes, to uncover inefficiencies and vulnerabilities. Your ability to document and analyse processes will be key to shaping future improvements.
This role will see you transcend the office walls, meeting and engaging with stakeholders across the University, from internal customers to external vendors. You’ll bring clarity to business needs from both a process and systems perspective, facilitating workshops and helping teams explore changes, defining requirements that make a real difference.

The main responsibilities for this role include:
- Lead the identification and clear definition of business requirements for assigned work.
- Effectively and efficiently elicit requirements using a range of techniques including facilitating interviews workshops or refinement sessions.
- Consult and challenge Business Process Design and recommend changes and improvements with a view to creating tangible benefits to the business.
- Provide data analysis and interpretation of reports and datasets to deliver actionable insights and recommendations that enhance business value
- As a senior specialist, you will also provide project leadership, coaching, mentoring and support for more junior staff members.
This is a fulltime (37.5 hours per week) fixed term (until December 2026) position, with a salary range of $130,000 - $140,000 per annum (pro rata) depending on skills experience.

Important Skills | Nga Pūkenga Motuhake
- Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent knowledge gained through extensive experience. For example, BCom or BBS.
- Knowledge of formal Business Analysis tools and techniques.
- Extensive experience in business process management and improvement
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to build relationships with Senior Management.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Knowledge of Business Process Automation tools and techniques
- Extensive experience in Change control management and processes.
