Job Description
Reporting into Anna Calver this six-month fixed term role has been established to support and implement the Economic and Engagement structural change focused on embedding new ways of working for the group. It's an exciting time and the team are embracing progression - shifting how they operate and leaning into real culture change.
Join us as we move into a more strategic space, where we deliver high-impact proactive storytelling at an organisational level, drive clarity in our communications, and connect with our community, taking an "audience first" approach to how we engage as a Council.
You:
You will have the opportunity to work with us, hand in glove, to bring our tīma together to create time and space to do the thinking required to make what we want to achieve in the change, happen. You will be naturally curious, pursuing the following - what does this change look like, how can we best work with Business Units (BU) and stakeholders, how do we evolve our communications, and engagement plans at a group/BU level. What does success look like and how do we give visibility to this, and what are the outcomes we want to achieve?
Big questions for an integral role! Part of this will be organising resources, creating self-service tools, key messaging docs and templates to empower BUs and groups, as appropriate.
Key to your success will be your demonstrated good strategic ability, where collaboration and networking comes naturally. You will need to be happy to do some of the doing and prepared on to get your hands dirty, co-designing with the team, creating plans, and developing self-service tools - all with the goal of setting the team up, so when you leave, communication plans is done, the workflows are clear, there are templates, and an internal communications approach so everyone buys into this new way of working.
This presents a unique opportunity for you if you have:
- operated at a Strategic Communications Manager level
- have worked as an Account Director or Principal Comms Advisor
- possess an outcomes/results focused style coupled with the ability to influence and take our tīma on the journey
- Working for the Council offers you a range of benefits including 5 weeks annual leave, flexible working options, health and wellbeing support, Council staff discounts and a range of learning and development programmes and opportunities
We want to make sure any accessibility requirements you may have, are well supported so the selection process is equitable for everyone. Please let us know if there are any adjustments or support, we can offer to make our process more accessible to you by emailing: recruitment@wcc.govt.nz.
