About the Role
We're looking for a detail-oriented Technician to join our Development Engineering Team at Hutt City Council. This role plays a key part in ensuring high-quality land development outcomes.

You'll work closely with the Development Engineering Manager and team to investigate developments, respond to public enquiries, and coordinate responses. As the first point of contact for land development engineering advice, your work will help ensure compliance with regulatory requirements while achieving the best environmental outcomes for our city!

What You'll Do

  • Act as the first point of contact for land development engineering enquiries.
  • Investigate residential developments, non-compliances, and public concerns.
  • Coordinate responses, liaising with landowners, developers, and internal teams.
  • Support the team in coordinating and tracking the processing of resource consents, engineering approvals, and RMA certifications.
  • Manage the subdivision inbox, book inspections, and update records.
  • Promote best practices in resource management and local government frameworks.


About You
We're looking for a proactive and technically skilled individual with:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in civil engineering or a related field.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • An understanding of land development, subdivisions, and three waters infrastructure.
  • The ability to interpret engineering plans and consent documentation.
  • Excellent organisational and record-keeping skills.
  • Experience with document management systems and Microsoft Office (preferred).
