We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our Companion Animal Hospital team in a permanent evening shift position (Monday to Friday, 4:30 pm – 12:30 am) in Palmerston North. This is your chance to thrive in a fast-paced, rewarding environment where you’ll not only provide exceptional care to hospitalised patients but also lead and inspire students as they develop their clinical skills.
Why You'll Love This Role:
- Mentor & Lead: Take charge of guiding students through treatments during busy evening hours, helping them grow their clinical skills and boosting their confidence.
- Impactful Patient Care: Be vital in providing support for our hospitilised patients, ensuring they receive the highest standard of care and comfort throughout the night.
- Collaborate & Contribute: Work closely with the emergency and critical care team, contributing your expertise while learning from specialists in the field.
- Fast-Paced & Rewarding: Manage multiple cases, prioritise tasks, and enjoy the thrill of providing essential care under pressure, all while making a lasting impact on the lives of both animals and their families.
What We’re Looking For:
- Compassionate Advocate: You’re dedicated to providing exceptional care for patients and ensuring their well-being.
- Passionate Teacher: You have a genuine love for teaching and helping students grow their clinical skills and confidence.
- Multitasking Pro: You thrive in fast-paced settings, are super organised, and excel at managing multiple responsibilities, often on your own.
- Leader at Heart: You can make quick decisions and adapt to the changing needs of both students and patients, taking ownership of your role.
What We Offer:
- A Thriving, State-of-the-Art Facility: Work alongside veterinary specialists and general practitioners in New Zealand’s premier Veterinary Teaching Hospital.
- A Dynamic, Collaborative Team: Join a close-knit, supportive team of over 40 nurses, as well as veterinarians and specialists. You’ll never stop learning and growing in this diverse and fast-paced environment.
- Professional Development & Growth: We’re committed to your continuous learning with annual funding for professional development. Plus, a comprehensive two-week induction process will ensure you’re fully equipped for your role.
- Making a Real Impact: Be part of Massey Vets’ 24/7 Emergency and Critical Care services, providing vital after-hours care across the Manawatu-Whanganui region. Every day, you’ll help improve the lives of animals and their families.
What You’ll Need to Succeed:
- A Diploma in Veterinary Nursing (or higher)
- A minimum of two years’ experience in general practice and/or teaching
- A positive, can-do attitude with a passion for critical care and client relations
- A genuine interest in undergraduate education and mentoring
- Eligibility to work in New Zealand
Appointment will be reflective of skills and experience within the grade 4 ($48,596 - $71,027) range. If you’re ready to take your career to the next level and make a real difference in the field of veterinary care, we want to hear from you!
