Our client is seeking a Senior Policy Advisor to join their team in Wellington.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to develop policy analysis and advice that supports the design and delivery of their policy programme. The successful candidate will be instrumental in leading key projects within the policy team's work programme, providing policy analysis and advice, including the development of regulatory interventions and regulatory instruments. Key Responsibilities:

• Support the delivery of the annual policy programme including regular monitoring against objectives and milestones
• Draft cabinet papers and regulatory impact statements clearly and accurately.
• Lead key projects within the policy team’s work programme
• Provide policy analysis and advice including the development of regulatory interventions and regulatory instruments
• Evaluate key regulatory initiatives as part of sound regulatory stewardship
• Work closely with internal teams to incorporate research, data, and insights into the development of policy

What you'll need:

• Experience providing high-quality policy analysis and advice
• Experience translating legislation into operational policy, procedures, and business processes
• Experience working in a regulatory environment within central or local government
• Understanding of the machinery of government and the public policymaking process
• Knowledge of the New Zealand regulatory environment
