Youth Justice Family Group Conference Team Leader - Southland, Otago and South Canterbury
- Permanent, Full-time position
- Annual remuneration for this position starts between $92,442 and $114,522 dependant on experience and increases up to $136,602 through tenure.
- Position will be supporting Youth Justice Coordinators across Southland, Otago and South Canterbury

Mō te tūnga | About the role
As part of the Youth Justice South team, you will be leading a team of Youth Justice Coordinators, who are responsible for managing Family Group Conferences (FGCs) in accordance with the Oranga Tamariki Act 1989.
As a strong leader you will be responsible for the effective leadership of a diverse team of Coordinators. You will ensure the timely delivery of quality Family Group Conferences, strive for continuous practice and service delivery improvement, and utilise resources across the region as demand shifts. As this role covers the wider lower south area, travel will be required to build and maintain rapport with site-based FGC Coordinators.
Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu | What you will bring
- Experience in the Family Group Conference space or experience as an FGC Coordinator is essential.
- Proven and successful people management experience including leading people toward improved performance.
- Successful management of risk in critical situations.
- Understanding of Te Ao Māori and an ability to apply tikanga Māori and Te Reo Māori within Family Group Conferences and your day-to-day practice.
- Proven experience in supporting staff in complex and sometimes difficult situations.
- A sound knowledge of relevant legislation.
- An ability to travel in order to effectively lead a team and engage with communities that are spread across a large geographical area and will require a measure of face-to-face engagement.
- Understanding of, and sensitivity to, multi-cultural matters including knowledge of tikanga Māori, and Pacific peoples' culture.
- Knowledge of and ability to quickly grow community networks, and experience working in collaboration with partners (Government and non-government).
- A full clean driver license.
