Job Description

Kia mahi ngātahi mō Pōneke mō tōna āpōpō | Working together for Wellington's future
We're Working for Wellington. Wellington City Council's team provides over 400 services every day for Wellingtonians - everything from parks and pools to consents and cemeteries - playing our part in making Pōneke an inclusive, sustainable, and creative capital for people to live, work and play.

External partners are key to helping us deliver essential infrastructure, services, and facilities to our community. With a forward-looking programme of works ahead, it's crucial that we manage our resources wisely and optimise contract management to ensure we can achieve the best outcomes, especially in a budget-conscious environment.

Our Commercial Partnerships Team is a dynamic, collaborative group who thrive on working together. They're passionate about improving how we procure goods and services, and they're now focused on enhancing our commercial practices and contract management across the organisation. This means driving better value for money from both existing and new contracts, working closely with key suppliers, and fostering stronger internal and external relationships with a strategic approach.

About the Role
The Senior Advisor, Commercial Performance plays a crucial role in providing expert commercial advice and support throughout the business. This involves delivering strategic insights, leading procurement activities, and ensuring the effective monitoring and management of contracts.

Your success in this role will be driven by the quality of your advice, your proactive planning, your ability to share knowledge, and the strong relationships you build with stakeholders.

What You'll Bring
We're looking for someone with a proven track record of improving commercial performance. Ideally, you'll have experience managing complex, high-value procurement projects and have a knack for finding creative solutions that drive better outcomes. You'll also be skilled in contract management, with a focus on more than just reporting.

If you're looking to take the next step in your career and unleash your creativity while working with a team committed to making a real difference in our community, we want to hear from you. You'll be an excellent connector, able to work constructively within high-performing teams to achieve sustainable results.

From a technical standpoint, you'll be adept at using analysis tools to evaluate complex data and present it in clear, actionable formats that inform decision-making and planning. Additionally, you'll bring experience in incorporating broader outcomes into procurement processes.

Why us?
The groundwork has been laid to set up this team for success. We have great people in the team already - with a passion for making a difference for Pōneke.

You'll get the chance to work in an organisation where people genuinely care about the work that they do and in a team environment where people are invested in helping each other succeed.

Working for the Council offers you a range of benefits including 5 weeks annual leave, flexible working options, health and wellbeing support, Council staff discounts and a range of learning and development programmes and opportunities.
