Employer overview
The employer is a longstanding franchise truck group with a national footprint and decades of leadership in the brands represented. We are seeking a Heavy Commercial Vehicle Diesel Technician to join their advanced service division.
Renowned for operational excellence, the organisation operates NZ-certified workshops equipped with OEM-grade tooling, and modern facilities which will prove popular, as well as integrated diagnostic infrastructure to support precision repairs.
Role summary
This position demands advanced proficiency in the maintenance, overhaul, and systematic troubleshooting of heavy-duty diesel systems. The role requires adherence to stringent OEM protocols, with a focus on minimising fleet downtime through methodical fault resolution. Ideally this will suit a senior skill level although all applications will be considered.
Core responsibilities:
- Servicing, repairs, and preventive maintenance on heavy commercial vehicles
- Execute diagnostic work using OEM diagnostic equipment to identify faults. While diagnostic skills are ideal there is of course also a content of more traditional mechanical duties as there is in any franchise workshop
- Work with Service Managers and other technically skilled personnel to escalate complex technical issues with a view to undertaking more technical repairs or providing out work if not practical.
Compensation and professional development
- Competitive remuneration package: positioned in the upper quartile of industry benchmarks, with overtime premiums and performance incentives
- Structured career pathway: accelerate your progression through in-house formal learning facilities ensuring you are able to keep ahead of technical developments
- Cutting-edge facility: operate within a modern facility featuring 10-tonne overhead hoists and OEM technical support
- Global network access: engage with international technical hubs for continuous upskilling on emerging technologies (e.g., hydrogen combustion systems, and predictive maintenance AI)
Role requirements
- Relevant automotive qualification - preferably as a Diesel Mechanic
- Proven experience repairing and servicing heavy commercial vehicles - a range of brand experience will be considered
- Demonstrated expertise in systematic fault-finding and diagnostics
- While not essential, auto electrical and hydraulic skills would also be advantageous but ongoing training is available
- We are open to a variety of skill levels. This is particularly true for those with advanced diagnostic skills as it is with those who combine strong mechanical skills across a wide range of repairs
