About the Role
Our Development Engineering Team is at the forefront of creating sustainable urban and green infrastructure in Lower Hutt Te Awa Kairangi. We are seeking a dynamic and visionary leader to head our Development Engineering Team.
In this role, you will work closely with key stakeholders to deliver high-quality development design outcomes that support our city's growth while upholding our environmental commitments.
What You'll Do
- Lead & Facilitate: Guide the Development Engineering Team in delivering innovative solutions for resource consent applications and engineering approvals. Inspire and support your team by fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the primary liaison with the development community, proactively identifying challenges and creating effective solutions for the resource consent and engineering approval processes.
- Strategic Innovation: Develop and implement both short-term and long-term strategies, ensuring our practices align with the Council's Strategic Plan and best practice standards.
- Financial & Risk Oversight: Oversee team finances, manage expenditure responsibly, and champion robust risk management practices that protect our community's interests.
About You
We're looking for an experienced and forward-thinking leader with:
- A recognised tertiary qualification in Resource Management or a relevant engineering discipline.
- A solid understanding of the resource consent and engineering approvals processes.
- Expertise in technical engineering practices, particularly relating to subdivisions, and connections with natural water systems and three waters infrastructure.
- Proven experience in staff and financial management, with the ability to lead by example.
- A current driver's license.
- An understanding of Te Tiriti principles and Mātauranga Māori, and experience navigating political or regulatory challenges (desirable).
