This role will suit you whether you're already experienced in aquaculture work, or someone looking to start their career in the thriving aquaculture industry.
As key members of our small-dedicated team, you'll enjoy performing hands-on tasks in an outdoor environment, to help support the sustainable production of our premium salmon smolt and broodstock.
About the role:
We carefully monitor our precious stock seven days a week, with our Hatchery Assistants working 10-hour days on a roster of four days on / four days off, allowing a great work/life balance.
You'll be responsible for assisting with:
- Spawning, egg incubation and sorting;
- Feeding;
- Grading, counting and transferring of fish;
- Accurate record keeping;
- Routine cleaning and maintenance of equipment, tanks and filtration systems;
- Ensuring the hatchery facility is clean, organised and compliant with safety regulations;
- On-call duty, responding to and remedying alarms as required.
What I need to be successful in this role:
- Physically fit and keen to work outdoors;
- A positive and hardworking mindset that enjoys working well with others in a small team;
- Reliable and eager to contribute to our team's success.
What we can offer you:
- Permanent full-time position with New Zealand's largest integrated fishing and aquaculture business
- Enjoy great work/life balance working a 4 days on / 4 off roster
