Job Description
BestStart Allenton is looking for a passionate and dedicated Teacher in Training to join our long standing and passionate team. Our mission is to provide high-quality education to the children in our community, and at BestStart Allenton, togetherness is at the heart of everything we do.
Our local curriculum is shaped by the values and aspirations of our parents and educators for their tamariki. Our cultural narrative, inspired by the braided rivers in our region, reflects the journey children take through life. Just as each braid of the river is significant, so too are the influences of family, preschool, and community in a child’s development.
We are located next to Allenton School and within walking distance to the Allenton shops.
About the Role:
If you have a passion for teaching young children and are currently enrolled in a Level 7 ECE programme (ECE Bachelor), we want to hear from you. We are looking for someone in their first or second year of study. This is a permanent, full-time position working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
You will be working with tamariki under two years old, sharing space between two rooms: one dedicated to infants (3 months to 1.5 years) and the other for toddlers (1.5 to 2.5 years). Our Ruru and Takahe environments focus on creating gentle, relaxed routines that are tailored to each child's developmental stage. We prioritise building trusting relationships among children, educators (Kaiako), and peers to ensure that every child feels at home in our care.
Why Choose Us?
At BestStart, we are committed to being a progressive and adaptable leader in the ECE sector. Our teachers are recognised for the positive impact they have on children’s lives. We are excited to announce that BestStart has opted into FULL pay parity.
Other benefits include:
- Paid study support for Year 2 and 3 Teachers-in-Training*
- $2000 referral bonus for recommending a qualified teacher*
- Access to online learning through Whare Ako, our tailored professional learning and development platform
- Career development support with multiple pathways to help you grow your career
- Subsidised health insurance with Southern Cross*
- Free annual flu vaccinations
- Confidential counseling through EAP
- Wellbeing program
- Sick leave from your first day
Role Requirements:
We are looking for someone who is committed to making a difference in the lives of young learners and who values excellence. The following are key requirements:
- Enrolment in a Level 7 ECE Bachelor course
- Good understanding of child-led curriculum, and the ability to plan and extend on children's learning
- Knowledge of current ECE regulations and Te Whāriki, with a high regard for compliance
- A strong commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi through pedagogical practices
- Passion for teaching with a focus on delivering quality education
