Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role

As the Cloud Infrastructure Architect, you will bring expertise and flare to the design of scalable, resilient infrastructure solutions leveraging the universities physical infrastructure and by championing cloud capabilities. You’ll recommend innovative solutions that align architectural principles, standards and patterns, and you will produce technical documentation and architectural artefacts, making sure business requirements and outcomes are achieved.

You will be joining Massey at just the right time, as we expand our architecture practice. You will be instrumental as we reinvigorate our purpose, our value proposition and the services we bring to the University. We are seeking a motivated team member who can promote architecture and support a culture of innovation and excellence.

Āu Mahi | What You Will Do

Design and advocate for enterprise infrastructure (both physical and cloud based) solutions that support business outcomes.
Assess existing infrastructure investments: Conduct thorough evaluations of current infrastructure investments to identify areas for improvement, ensuring optimal performance and alignment with the university’s digital strategy.
Cloud migration planning and analysis: Develop detailed plans for data and application migration, minimizing downtime and ensuring data integrity throughout the transition to cloud environments.
Stay abreast of the latest cloud-native technologies and advocate for their adoption within the university to enhance efficiency and innovation.
Continuous Improvement: Champion a culture of continuous improvement within the architecture practice, promoting best practices and driving innovation to support the university's strategic goals.
In collaboration with your peers in the Architecture practice, develop and maintain reference architectures, principles, standards and guidelines.
Participate in IT Governance and support the on-going evolution of these functions.
Build strong and enduring working relationships within ITS and with university business stakeholders.

Ko koe tēnei | Who You Are

A tertiary qualification in IT, or equivalent extensive industry experience.
Industry-recognized certification in IT architecture at a practitioner level.
Minimum 5+ years of experience in an architecture role, with deep background and success in Infrastructure and Cloud technologies.
Familiarity with current strategic issues facing IT departments (preferably in a university or NZ government context).

This is a full-time position. Many of the IT Services teams and business stakeholders are based on our Palmerston North campus, which is the preferred location for this role. Consideration may be given for the right candidate to be based at our Wellington Campus, however regular travel to Palmerston North will be required. Appointment will be commensurate of skills and experience within the $130 - $170K range.
