ABOUT THE ROLE
The Data Analyst is a blend of business analysis, analytics engineering, data engineering, and DevOps to support and advance analytics and data-driven decision-making. Key responsibilities include engaging with business stakeholders to understand source systems and business logic, creating business intelligence reports, and designing functional testing for analytics and visualisations. In analytics engineering, the Data Analyst will develop high-quality dimensional data models, following best practices in data modelling within a dbt Core environment, and creates Power BI visualisations aligned with organisational standards. It also involves maintaining analytics environments, driving analytics maturity, and supporting advanced capabilities like machine learning. Data engineering responsibilities include operating and maintaining data solutions in Azure Data Factory and Databricks, monitoring ELT environments, addressing data governance issues, and contributing to process improvements. DevOps tasks involve adhering to CI/CD processes for analytics platforms.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Tertiary qualifications in Statistics, Mathematics, or Computer Science.
- 2-3 years of industry experience in:
- Data manipulation and development using Microsoft tools such as Power Query, SSMS, Azure Data Factory, and Databricks.
- Data visualisation and analysis with Power BI, Python, and R.
- Relevant Microsoft certifications, including Power BI Data Analyst.
- Demonstrated expertise in deploying dimensional data models, Azure DevOps pipelines, and API data extraction solutions.
- Hands-on experience with Azure storage accounts.
- Skilled in gathering and designing requirements for reports and visualisations.
