Job Description
We are currently on the hunt for a Cancer Support Nurse Specialist to join a dynamic and supportive healthcare team. The successful candidate will work within a compassionate and dedicated environment, providing community-based nursing support for individuals affected by cancer and their families.
This role is 32 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive, evidence-based information about cancer to patients, their families, health professionals, and the wider community
- Provide community nursing support for people with recent primary or secondary cancer diagnoses and their supporters
- Make detailed assessments of client and caregiver needs, offering timely support, guidance, and information
- Offer support via telephone, in person, electronically, or by mail, ensuring quality service and care
- Maintain cancer information resources and contribute to the development of educational materials
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients, health professionals, and external service providers to ensure effective care coordination
- Work collaboratively with other departments and services, supporting the overall effectiveness of cancer care services
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- Registered Nurse with at least two years of clinical experience (preferably in oncology/haematology and community nursing)
- Completion of or enrolment in relevant graduate or post-graduate studies in oncology/haematology nursing or related fields
- Current Annual Practising Certificate from the Nursing Council of New Zealand
- Full, valid New Zealand Driver Licence
