Job Description

Are you passionate about storytelling and connecting with diverse audiences across multiple platforms in a culturally responsive way? Do you have experience in communications and public relations with a talent for crafting powerful narratives? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our client’s team as a Communications Advisor.

You will be part of their Community Investment team and work closely with the Head of Community Investment based in Christchurch. You will be responsible for telling inspirational community stories that align with “Empowered to Thrive,” and the organisation’s purpose, in a way that ensures stories of their impact and the impact of those contributing to it are amplified. You will work closely with the team to gather stories, manage events, develop communications strategies, and craft compelling messages that inspire and engage our audience across multiple platforms.

To be successful in this role, you will have the following:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • A strong understanding of delivering story-driven content with the ability to empower the community
  • The ability to engage effectively with people from diverse communities, including Māori and Pasifika
  • Knowledge and understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • Experience in communications, public relations, or a related field with strong editing skills
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work to deadline and prioritise opportunities and resources
  • Experience with MS Office Suite
  • Experience with website management, particularly the Umbraco platform, would be desirable
  • Experience in content creation and managing social media platforms.
  • Experience of working with EDM platforms (e.g. NV Send)
