About the Opportunity:

Are you studying towards your teaching qualification and eager to make a real difference in the lives of young tamariki? BestStart is excited to offer opportunities for Teachers in Training to join our centres across Christchurch in 2025!

Permanent and Fixed Term positions available, working a mix of 20 - 40 hours per week, over 3 - 5 days.

A Teacher in Training role is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience with under 2’s or over 2’s, tailored to your interests. You will develop your skills while working alongside experienced, supportive teachers who will mentor and guide you throughout your learning journey.

Role requirements: 

Commit to making a difference in the lives of young learners with a team dedicated to excellence. We are looking for the following: 

  • Enrolment into a level 7 ECE Bachelor or Graduate Diploma course 
  • Good understanding of child-led curriculum, planning and extending on our children's learning 
  • Demonstrate good knowledge of the current ECE Regulations, Te Whariki and hold compliance in a high regard
  • A strong commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi through pedagogical practices 
  • Passion and commitment for teaching and learning with a focus on delivering quality
