Benefits/Perks

🤱
Extended Parental Leave
We want to ensure our team have the opportunity to have a healthy and fulfilling life outside of work, and we know that a new addition to the family comes with a cost. With this in mind, we provide a parental leave top-up benefit for eligible employees, where we top-up IRD parental leave payments to match ordinary earnings for the first 14 weeks of primary carer leave. We also engage with you and consider requests for flexibility when you return to work from parental leave, particularly where you might like to return on reduced hours or you need specific shifts for a set period. We can't always meet every single request - but we definitely consider how we can, rather than why we can't.
Care and Appreciation
At Braemar Hospital we care for you, so you can care for others. From our quiet waahi wairua, to our amazing outdoor areas, and our comfy whaanau room - our working environment encourages you to consider your wellbeing. We know that self-care is an essential ingredient for caring for others, and in July each year we highlight this for you with our wellness activities which, in previous years, have included laughing yoga, high intensity interval training, lake walks, mindfulness sessions, onsite massage, journalling and vision boards, flash-mob dancing, tai chi, mole maps, basic health checks, low sensory rooms, step challenges, and shared lunches. We know the cost of living can make things tricky sometimes - so we make sure you can access a Financial Advisor, free of charge. And with parking being one of the biggest concerns for both patients and staff at most New Zealand hospitals, we offer limited free parking in an onsite parking area. Across the hospital each team recognises and celebrates annual professional days, and there is a concerted effort to care and show appreciation for you.
Work-Life Balance Support
It's important to us that you take time to rest and relax! Our annual summer shutdown has been a long-standing tradition. We know its school holidays, we know the weather is warmer, and we know its typically a time of year where people get together with their friends and families, and so we close the hospital for around two weeks each year, to make sure you have some down time. In addition, once you hit five years' service at Braemar, we increase your annual holidays accrual to five weeks' per year, so you can take a bit more time each year, just for you. We also set our minimum sick leave entitlement at 15 days' per year which is available to you from the day you start. That way, you have plenty of sick leave to cover illness and injury, and you don't have to take time unpaid, or use your annual holidays to cover when you are unwell.
💚
Counselling Services
Vitae are the chosen support service at Braemar and they are available to you, free of charge to provide additional support if you are experiencing personal difficultues. This is a professional and completely confidential service. Vitae can also be a great support in navigating workplace issues and can provide invaluable coaching support to help you with your professional goals.
🌿
Wellness Program
chnnl is wellbeing in your pocket! chnnl is a mobile app, available to you as an employee of Braemar, to help you reflect on your mental health and wellbeing. It is a clinically validated solution for harm minimisation, early intervention and support; chnnl provides an anonymous, safe space to check-in on how you're feeling, report on any issues, and access tips to improve your mental wellbeing. At Braemar we've been using chnnl for a while now. It helps us to ensure the workplace is as safe as possible and it helps to drive informed and meaningful change. It can also have value for you outside of work - it enables you to track and monitor your overall wellness, and it can be used like a journalling tool.
📈
Professional Development
At Braemar we offer a Professional Development & Recognition Programme for our Enrolled and Registered Nurse roles. This ensures you are recognised, valued, and supported in your professional practice. We are currently working through the implementation of a similar programme for our Anaesthetic Technicians.
🛂
Visa Sponsorship
Braemar Hospital successfully holds a high-volume employer accreditation with Immigration New Zealand, enabling us to support you if you are on the Accredited Employer Work Visa.
🎉

We all love a good bargain, and if you work at Braemar, you'll be able to benefit from a number of pretty great discount platforms. Using our Braemar Connect app, you can access the Perk platform (retail discounts), the Perk+ platform (experience discounts), and the Waikato Chambers of Commerce app (local retail discounts).
🎖
Long Service Rewards
At Braemar we recognise long service with our coveted long service badges, and with a gift of long service leave. We also like to celebrate this type of occasion which is likely to involve a bit of a fuss over morning tea!
📣
