Job Description

About the job

Crimson Education is looking for Neurodiversity Tutors to support its students who are neurodivergent or have neurodiverse needs worldwide. We are looking for committed and experienced tutors who have a genuine passion for helping these students succeed.

This role is perfect for qualified neurodiversity teachers and tutors who are eager to work with students on a 1:1 basis online. These students will have a variety of needs, and it will be the task of the individual to cater these through a flexible, creative and holistic approach. The overall objective is to help students overcome any educational barriers to improve their motivation and outlook on their own educational journeys.

Essential Background:

  • Specialist Diploma - Level 5 Diploma in Specialist Teaching for Literacy-Related Difficulties (DIST)
  • OR Specialist Diploma - Level 7 Diploma in Specialist Teaching for Literacy-Related Difficulties (DIST)
  • Experience working with students who are either neurodivergent or have neurodiverse needs.
  • Strong enthusiasm and passion for widening access and participation in education and higher education.

Desired background:

  • Experience working online and via zoom.
  • Experience working with A-level students and or University students with neurodiverse needs.

Tasks and responsibilities:

  • Planning each session of tutoring / mentoring to cater to individual needs.
  • Providing specialised neurodiversity support to students of varying ages via online 1:1 sessions facilitated through the Crimson App.
  • Using Crimson’s Neurodiversity Action guide and resources, when appropriate, to deliver engaging and supportive lesson content.
  • Completing lesson reports and providing feedback on the student’s progress via session summaries. These will be sent to the student’s wider team, who will communicate directly with guardians / parents.
  • Tutors are responsible for accepting allocations with consideration of and commitment to fulfilling the hours stated on each individual student’s contract. Any reallocations can be disruptive to a student's work and motivation so we expect tutors to complete all accepted hours.
  • Tutors are responsible for reporting to their Tutor Manager in a timely manner when child safeguarding or certain behaviours arise and they need additional support.
  • Uphold ethical boundaries and Crimson’s philosophy when supporting students with essays, coursework, and exams. Tutors are there to guide students and support their understanding, but are not there to write essays, coursework, or exams on behalf of the student.

How Crimson’s programme works in practice:

  • Crimson is an exclusively online educational consultancy. As a result, you will have the opportunity to work with students across time zones from the comfort of your own home.
  • This position is designed to be a part-time, contractor role, and you can commit to as many or as few hours as you like to suit your schedule and other commitments.
  • You will be invited to join the wider Neurodiversity Action community, where we will share best practice, resources, and tips!
  • Each student will have a wider educational team, which may include subject tutors, a university strategist and a pool of dedicated student success managers.

The right to work in the UK on a self-employed basis is required for this position.
