About the role
Discover our fish processing division located in Timaru, central to mountains, lakes, and the sea. We process various fish species from our deep-water vessels and independent ACE fishers. Our facility operates three shifts daily to support day, night, and part-time operations, while our joint venture with San Won keeps the unloading of our vessels and storage facilities busy year-round. You will find a variety of our beautiful New Zealand seafood products in our retail shop located on site.
This role is located at the Timaru Processing site. Reporting into the Supervisor Fillet line the Process Assistant will be responsible for cutting and trimming various seafood products to meet company quality and productivity standards. You'll also support the processing team with tasks such as packing, operating machinery, and using a knife to prepare products to specification.
Responsibilities:
Trim fish to meet specifications before packing, ensuring quality and consistency across species.
Operate knives safely and efficiently, maintaining sharpness and proper handling techniques.
Maintain knowledge of fish species, filleting types, and defect identification to meet processing requirements.
Collaborate with area supervisors and production managers to drive productivity and team engagement.
Ensure machinery is safely operated and packaging materials are used according to specifications.
Uphold hygiene standards by cleaning equipment and following safety and sanitation policies
What we're looking for
Knowledge of fish processing is preferred.
Experience in a factory processing role is preferred.
Passion for health, safety and wellbeing of themselves and others.
Ability to get on with all team members and contribute to a good work environment.
Ability to work 6.00am - 2.30pm Monday to Friday
