What You’ll Be Doing | Mō te Tūranga
As a 'Solution Architect - Data' at the NZAA, you’ll ensure that data supports business goals, improves decision-making, and fosters a culture of data-driven excellence. Your mission is to design practical solutions that align our data capabilities with our strategic goals, unlocking the next steps in our journey. You’ll have the unique ability to contribute hands-on while keeping an eye on the bigger picture, and be a strong collaborator to work across technical teams.
- Develop solutions using architectural modeling processes and standards.
- Ensure alignment with policies and standards, including ‘Well Defined Architecture’ and Secure by Design principles.
- Use your excellent interpersonal skills and confidence to explain technical solutions to non-technical audiences.
- Facilitate workshops across diverse areas to gather architecture content.
- Act as a subject-matter expert on roadmaps, current, and future technologies.
- Assess the feasibility and impact of technology changes.
- Collaborate on practices, patterns and processes to ensure consistency across teams and initatives.
About You | Mōu
You'll bring a strong blend of technical expertise, solution thinking, and results driven focus, along with a passion for future focused data solutions and excellent collaboration. The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
- Recent (within the last four years) experience with data toolsets like Snowflake, BigQuery, Tableau and have a working understanding of Salesforce.
- Demonstrated expertise in modern data platforms, comfortable to describe and design integrated solutions that support business value.
- A solid understanding of cybersecurity best practices and their application to modern data solutions.
- Proven ability to understand customer needs, then design, scope, model, and deliver production-ready solutions.
- The ability to think beyond the immediate solution, considering integration with other technologies.
- Cross-functional skills in DevSecOps, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and Machine Learning are a bonus.
- Able to document solutions at all levels to provide clarity across requirements, including Highlevel designs, logical designs, Detailed designs, data flow diagrams, etc
- A passion for learning and staying ahead of emerging technologies.
- A collaborative mindset, ready to challenge the status quo while maintaining engagement.
Qualifications & Experience:
- A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience.
- Architect certification (e.g., TOGAF, BSC practitioner certificate).
- Knowledge of Agile, Lean, or other frameworks such as COBiT, ITIL, or IT4IT is preferred.
- Experience working with Cyber Security controls and requirements (CIS, NIST, ISO27001 etc)
- Exposure to Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, Tableau, Salesforce, or equivalent tools
