Job Description
Mō tēnei tūranga | About the role
- Whakarongorau Aotearoa is seeking a Finance Accountant to join our Auckland-based Finance team on an 8-month maternity leave contract.
- Supporting the Financial Accounting Manager and the wider Finance team, the Financial Accountant is instrumental in providing an operational accounting function, ensuring all financial obligations are met and delivering high quality information and analysis to support the organisation.
Ngā haepapa matua - Key responsibilities
- Month End close and accounting processes including but not limited to:
- Processing accruals, Fixed Assets ownership, IFRS calculations. P&L management / board reports & reviews, Balance Sheet reconciliations, processing GST & FBT returns
- Weekly tasks include but not limited to:
- Preparation and development of weekly cash position report & maintain 12-month cashflow forecast.
- Payroll approval
- Preparation of year end statutory accounts and liaison with auditors
- Provide guidance to the transaction processing team
- Support with the Budget and Forecast cycles
- Provide support to the Financial Accounting Manager & the wider Finance Team on adhoc tasks and projects (EG: Insurance)
Qualifications
Mōu ake | About you
Ōu wheako ōu mātauranga hoki - Qualifications and experience
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a large organisation
- Chartered Accountant qualification or similar
- Proven background in financial accounting (including IFRS)
Ōu āheitanga ōu pūkenga hoki - Skills and competence
- IT savvy with a solid knowledge of MS Excel
- Strong data manipulation skills
- Whakarongorau Aotearoa acknowledges Mana Māori and mātauranga Māori as a professional skill set
