Mō te tūranga - About the role
As a Cook, you will be responsible for assisting the Food Services Team Leader to prepare and serve tasty and nutritious means for lunch and dinner. We are looking for someone who is capable of stepping into the Cook role at weekends, so ability to supervise others and have confidence in the kitchen with meal preparation is important along with the following:
Prepare morning and afternoon tea, as well as daily mealtimes
Ensure meals are served at the appropriate size and temperature
Maintain daily food and fridge temperature checks
Operate within food hygiene standards and protocols
Be considerate of residents during mealtimes and ensure their needs are met appropriately
This position is 48 hours per fortnight: Thursday through to Sunday on week one and Thursday and Friday on week two. If you are willing and able to pick up additional hours to cover for leave it's always a bonus and much appreciated within the Home. Our kitchen and dining hours do not operate late into the evenings, so it's the perfect hospitality role with hours that enable you to have some work/life balance. No more late nights working while everyone else is socialising!

As well as a passion for the wellbeing of older people, you will be enthusiastic but patient and well organized with great interpersonal skills and sense of humor. You will share our values of empathy, compassion, and respect. You will also have:
Experience working in a commercial kitchen, preparing meals for large groups of mixed dietary needs
Good communication skills and have a person centred approach
High standards of personal hygiene and appearance
You will hold a food safety/hygiene certificate
Enjoy being able to contribute to the work of your team and how this impacts the experiences of our residents
