Berhampore Nursery is an award-winning nursery, producing 100,000 eco-sourced native plants annually for the restoration of the city's parks and reserve areas. The Nursery plays a vital role in supporting Wellington City Council's programmes in revegetation, habitat restoration, urban horticulture and the conservation of Wellington-specific threatened plant species.
We are looking for an individual with great administration skills to support and manage all aspects of plant purchasing, procurement and documentation for the Nursery. This will include ordering plants not available in the Nursery, maintaining and documenting stock movements and preparing and distributing purchase orders and invoicing. Additionally, you will manage our commemorative tree scheme and play a key role in organising and administrating the WCC Road Reserve plant scheme.

- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and other business units within the Council.
- Prior experience within a horticultural role or similar
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong computer literacy, particularly in MS Word and Excel and experience in database management.
- Experience or a strong interest in horticulture.
- Ability to work well autonomously as well as part of a small team.
- Current NZ class 1 Drivers Licence

Because this is a safety sensitive role, the successful applicant will undergo pre-employment health assessments and drug and alcohol screening, in addition to police vetting.
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week), between the hours of 7.30am to 4.00pm, Monday to Friday, weekend hours and overtime as required.
