We have a rare vacancy for an experienced senior Registered Nurse to join our highly skilled Advanced Nursing Team in a Casual capacity as a Clinical Nurse Advisor.
You'll join our Advanced Nursing Team and report to our dynamic Charge Nurse Manager. This is an "after hours" role, working 10 hr shifts on week days, and 12 hrs day or night shifts on weekends, across either Mercy or Ascot Hospitals. This position requires an experienced senior nurse with advanced clinical skills and ability to manage staff and facilities issues afterhours. You'll be the first responder to clinical emergencies, and support your colleagues to escalate care and manage clinical deterioration. You will receive a comprehensive orientation, great pay rates and ongoing support.
The responsibilities of the Clinical Nurse Advisor include:
- Providing leadership and oversight of operational activities during afterhours and weekends
- Providing specialist, evidenced based, clinical support and expertise at the bedside to our nursing staff, ensuring that the care delivered is safe and effective
- Advocating on behalf of patients, families and colleagues
- Using advanced assessment skills to support the clinical assessment of patients causing concern and escalating as appropriate
- Monitoring staffing levels and adjusting as required to maintain safe staffing
- Liaising with our in-house Bureau to ensure bed allocations and casual staffing are managed appropriately
The role is ideally suited to an experienced RN who has:
- Current broad clinical experience - able to demonstrate a high level of clinical expertise and leadership
- Experience in the ICU/HDU or Emergency Department environment
- Current advanced clinical skills e.g. cannulation, phlebotomy, ECG, catheterisation
- ACLS certification
- Either obtained, or commenced study on, a post graduate advanced clinical pathway
