We are looking for local talent for our Amazing client who is NZ leading and largest provider of food and support services across multiple industries!
We are seeking a Chef to work at a College in Otane preparing and serving meals to 50 - 70 pupils including hostel students. you will be responsible for preparing, cooking, and serving high-quality food in line with the contractual requirements of the unit. You will ensure all tasks are performed with due regard for Health and Safety and Food Safety regulations. This role best suits an individual with an Amazing Atittude and capable of working in an environment fill of students!
This is a Temporary Full-Time role untill mid / end of march starting ASAP - Payrate depending on experience / travel distance.
As you will be working within a school / educational institution / Hostel, you will have a roster that runs over 7 days - Generally the shifts are 6:00-14:00 or 11:00-19:00.
Your responsibilities:
Reporting to the Unit Operations Manager you will:
- Prepare, cook, and present food, ensuring quality control and consumer satisfaction.
- Order, receive, and store kitchen supplies, maintaining proper inventory levels.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen, including equipment and surfaces.
- Develop menus to meet special dietary and cultural needs of customers.
- Coach and support colleagues, fostering a collaborative team environment. There may be times you might be working alone so need to be confident in that regard.
The ideal candidate will have:
- an NZQA Level 4 Certificate in Cookery or equivalent.
- previous experience cooking in a similar environment.
- the ability to work under pressure while maintaining a positive outlook and professional manner.
- a strong communication skills and a team player attitude.
- to be physically fit, reliable, and able to pass a police clearance.
