Job Description

About Us:
Māpua Wealth is a leading provider of investment research and wholesale investment advice, serving financial advisers and asset owners across New Zealand, Australia, and the Pacific Islands. We are entrepreneurial, majority employee-owned and deeply committed to our clients, including foundations, charities, Māori and iwi investors, and financial advice businesses.

The Role:
We are seeking an energetic and motivated Investment Consultant to join our team. In this role, you will support our clients across a wide range of investment activities, from managed funds to direct and co-investments in private markets. You will have the opportunity to develop and lead client relationships, contributing to their investment strategies, portfolio designs and, ultimately, their success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with the managing partners and members of the investment team to advise and service our clients.
  • Lead and support the development and review of clients’ investment strategies and policies.
  • Lead and support due diligence on direct and co-investment opportunities.
  • Assist in portfolio design for clients.
  • Contribute towards our fund manager research and due diligence.
  • Participate in Māpua Wealth's Investment Committee.

Furthermore, you will build trusted relationships with our clients, participating in and leading our in-person and virtual client meetings, which may include the opportunity for travel. It is also expected that you will become an Accredited Investment Fiduciary, furthering your expertise and position as a valued adviser.

About You:

  • An enthusiasm for helping investors and the communities they represent achieve their goals.
  • 5-8+ years’ experience in investment advice or direct investing.
  • A strong understanding of corporate finance and private market asset analysis.
  • Broad knowledge of investment concepts, portfolio construction, and risk management.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to present complex concepts to non-experts.
  • Self-starter with a proactive approach in a ‘management lite’ environment.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., finance degrees, CFA or CAIA certifications).
  • Knowledge of te ao Māori and te reo Māori is highly valued.
  • Aligned with our values of connection, care, courage and stewardship.

What we can offer:

  • Competitive salary and working conditions.
  • Strong career development and growth prospects.
  • Flexible working environment, blending office and remote work.
  • Opportunity to work in a collaborative and supportive environment.

If you are passionate about investment and want to make a difference in the communities we serve, we would love to hear from you.
