We are seeking a skilled and motivated Drain Layers with a minimum of 1 to 2 years of experience to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of drainage systems on a large Christchurch project. The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship.
Key Responsibilities
Install, repair, and maintain stormwater and wastewater drainage systems, including pipes, culverts, and manholes.
Read and interpret blueprints, site plans, and specifications to ensure accurate execution of projects.
Excavate and prepare trenches using manual and mechanical methods.
Measure and cut pipes to required lengths and secure connections to ensure a watertight system.
Ensure compliance with local council regulations, safety standards, and environmental guidelines.
Inspect and test drainage systems to identify and resolve leaks, blockages, or other issues.
Operate and maintain relevant tools and machinery, including excavators, compactors, and laser levels.
Work collaboratively with other team members, contractors, and site managers to meet project deadlines.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring tools and equipment are used safely and effectively.
Qualifications and Experience
1 to 2 years of experience in drain laying or a related field.
Basic knowledge of drainage systems, materials, and installation techniques.
Familiarity with relevant health and safety regulations.
Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
Skills and Competencies
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Proficiency in using hand and power tools.
Physical fitness and ability to perform manual labor in various weather conditions.
Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Time management and ability to meet deadlines.
Certifications/Licenses
Drain laying certification
Full class 1 & 2 would be preferred but not essential
WTR preferred but not essential
