Mō te tūnga | About the role

One of the functions of the Oranga Tamariki Risk and Internal Assurance team is to provide independent, objective assurance and consulting services designed to add value and improve its operations. This function consists of Fraud and Integrity, Enterprise Risk and Internal Audit and Assurance.

This is an opportunity to be part of an exciting journey where we are focusing on uplifting the trust, credibility and value add we provide to our stakeholders.

The Senior Advisor Assurance is responsible for providing high quality tailored advice to managers and staff on all aspects of the Ministry's assurance activities. The Senior Advisor Assurance will lead, undertake, and support internal audit and assurance engagements, support the planning and delivery of the internal audit and assurance work programme and assist general internal assurance reporting and advice, working closely with the Principal Advisor Assurance.

Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu | What you will bring

This position would be suit someone looking to take their next step into an internal audit and assurance role, or a seasoned professional with at least two years' experience looking to join a supportive and dynamic team environment.

Key requirements of the role include:

  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline or knowledge gained through relevant experience.
  • Ability to critically analyse and interpret complex information and make effective, well-reasoned decisions.
  • Excellent attention to detail, both written and numerical, and commitment to quality.
  • Public service experience would be an advantage
  • Excellent interpersonal skills - able to adapt these to suit the needs of the audience, able to influence others to accept ideas/strategies.
  • Understanding and appreciation of cross-cultural practices in particular; knowledge of tikanga Māori, and Pacific peoples' culture

Annual remuneration for this position starts between $106,416 and $117,782 dependant on experience.
