We are seeking an enthusiastic Subject Librarian to deliver teaching and research support services. Based in Palmerston North, this permanent, full-time (37.5 hr p/w) position will be part of a small team of subject librarians.
Reporting to the Manager, Library Information & Research Services you will support the Massey Business School, while collaborating with other subject librarians across the University’s three campuses to deliver the range of teaching and research support services provided by the Library. We place a strong emphasis on showing initiative, sharing key tasks, knowledge and expertise. There is the potential to demonstrate leadership in selected teaching and research initiatives to ensure the strategic outcomes of the library are met.
The salary range for this role is a Professional Grade 6, spanning $67,184 - $95,514 (NZD) based on skills and experience.
Key responsibilities:
Information service and information literacy: providing library and course-specific information skills training for students both synchronously and asynchronously; providing instruction and guidance on bibliographic management software; and providing specialist support to individual students from undergraduate to doctoral
Research support: including instruction, support and guidance on issues such as finding and managing research literature, publishing and sharing research, researcher profiles and publication impact measurement, and open access
Outreach: developing and maintaining positive working relationships with academic and other University staff; advocacy for good information literacy practice; taking part in the promotion of library services
Teamwork and professional development: maintaining knowledge of developments and issues in academic libraries and information service provision: contributing proactively as a member of the Library team including participating in Library projects
Qualifications & Experience:
A degree and professional library qualification
Previous professional library experience in a tertiary library is preferred with experience in teaching information literacy and or research support essential
Familiarity with common referencing software, videoconferencing software, proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and SharePoint
Experience in leading initiatives or actively participating in projects
Supportive of the Te Tiriti o Waitangi-led direction of the University
