Job Description
Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

We are seeking an experienced leader with a strong background in mental health to guide our Campus Care | Te Papa Manaaki team. This role calls for expertise and experience in working with students and young people and the ability to apply tikanga-informed approaches to deliver culturally responsive support. Campus Care provides crucial personal and wellbeing assistance to tauira (students), connecting them with the appropriate resources and services to help them succeed and thrive.

As the Campus Care Team Leader, you'll play a crucial role in managing and inspiring a team of Case Managers. You'll provide leadership by setting clear direction and expectations, managing workload distribution and providing clinical practice support. The team leader will oversee the maintain a caseload and ensure relevant continuing professional development for their team.

In addition to overseeing the team's operations, you'll serve as a key liaison between the Campus Care team and other university and community-based stakeholders. Your leadership will ensure that the team continues to be the front door to student needs, offering timely interventions and effectively triaging students to the right support services.

This is a full-time (37.5 hours per week), permanent opportunity.
The remuneration is $96,800 - $119,500 per annum, depending on skills and experience.

He kōrero mōu | About you

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in mental health nursing, occupational therapy, social work or another relevant field
• Current registration/ practicing certificate with the relevant professional body (SWRB, Occupational therapy Board of NZ, Nursing Council of NZ)

Skills and experience:

• Experience in managing/leading clinical teams
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience working with clients that are affected by a range of social, physical, and psychological issues, preferably with students or young people
• Demonstrable understanding and experience of case management and its application to support services
• Experience working with young people and providing support services
• Knowledge or awareness of the issues affecting tauira and young people
• Demonstrated cultural competence in supporting diverse student populations, with a focus on effectively engaging Māori and Pasifika students in a mental health context.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to problem solve under pressure
• Highly developed interpersonal skills including the ability to deal with sensitive matters

Te Papa Manaaki | Campus Care coordinates personal and wellbeing support for students. It provides early and holistic support with the aim of preventing further escalation, reducing the burden on the student of accessing help, minimising duplication and gaps in service provision across support providers, and minimising the burden on academic and other non-support staff of assessment and referral requirements
