Job Description
Madison is excited to be partnering with a kiwi owned and operated business who are dedicated to bettering the lives of New Zealander’s, to hire a Payroll Specialist position based in Albany – North Shore. In this position you will lead and enhance organisational payroll processes, with a specific focus on ensuring compliance with New Zealand’s Holidays Act 2003.
About the role
You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with the Holidays Act 2003, including leading audits to confirm adherence to the legislation. This includes reviewing historical payroll records to identify and resolve any non-compliance issues.
A key part of your role will involve evaluating existing payroll processes to identify areas for improvement. You will recommend and implement changes aimed at enhancing accuracy, efficiency, and compliance, with a focus on automation and best practices.
You will collaborate with internal teams, payroll software vendors, and external consultants to ensure systems meet legislative requirements and prepare regular reports. Additionally, you will provide guidance and training to payroll staff on Holidays Act requirements and process improvements.
About you
- Proven experience in similar payroll positions and understanding of NZ payroll legislation.
- Deep knowledge of Holidays Act legislation and experience managing remediation projects.
- Demonstrated success in implementing payroll process optimisation initiatives.
- Proficient in payroll software – Datapay and Microsoft Excel.
- Keen attention to detail and ability to handle large sets of data.
- Proactive and adaptable approach to problem solving
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
