The ASB Commercial Banking team look after middle-market business customers and are committed to providing the best business offering to New Zealand; through getting to know our customers businesses and understanding their needs to help them realise their goals and ambitions.
We're looking for a Commercial Relationship Manager to join our Commercial Banking team, responsible for managing the day-to-day relationships with commercial customers on a particular portfolio.
Te Tūranga | The role:
- Reporting to the Senior Commercial Manager your role will assist with business development and acquisition through the development of strong local networks.
- You will also have the ability to drive strong customer engagement and retention through your thorough understanding of customer needs and the development of solutions.
- Equally important will be your focus on maintaining the profitability of a complex and growing portfolio, whilst upholding strong risk and control standards.
- A natural leader and mentor, you will also relish the opportunity to develop direct reports as you will be responsible for management of the relationship team, including a Commercial Account Manager and Commercial Associate.

A relevant tertiary qualification is preferred however this is not essential. It will be your proven experience and success within either Business or Commercial Banking role, outstanding relationship & portfolio management skills, and your strong credit and lending skills that will demonstrate you have the right technical skills for this role. Your friendly, professional, can-do attitude enables you to quickly establish positive long-term relationships with your customers, which is what will set you apart from others.
As this role has direct reports, you will be a natural leader and mentor with a passion for developing your staff and others; however it's not a pre-requisite that you have previous leadership experience.
