About the role

Discover our fish processing division located in Timaru, central to mountains, lakes, and the sea. We process various fish species from our deep-water vessels and independent ACE fishers. Our facility operates three shifts daily to support day, night, and part-time operations, while our joint venture with San Won keeps the unloading of our vessels and storage facilities busy year-round. You will find a variety of our beautiful New Zealand seafood products in our retail shop located on site.

This role is located at our Timaru site. Reporting into the Quality Assurance and Environmental Manager, the Quality Assurance Officer is primarily responsible for assessing and reporting of product adherence against regulatory compliance standards and internal specifications.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure the effective measurement of product quality and compliance is maintained for the DWF and Charter Vessels
• Ensure quality documentation and trending databases are maintained and accurate
• Proactively working with Deep-Water Fleet team to improve product quality, compliance and outcomes - e.g. training, time on vessels, customer complaints, non-conformances, and problem solving
• Support the optimisation of Deep-Water Fleet product specifications to market and company requirements. Assessing and reporting of product adherence against regulatory compliance standards and internal specifications

About you:

You will be a highly motivated self-starter with a background in seafood or food processing industry experience. Having strong attention to detail and ability to accurately inspect product against specifications and regulatory standards is a must. Your strong interpersonal skills will encourage improvement of product quality within the Deep-Water team to ensure we strive to become the best seafood company in the world. The Deep-Water division is a reactive, demanding and fascinating part of our business.

• Competent in Microsoft systems
• Knowledge of OMAR and MPI Requirements
