Ko te ahurei o te tamaiti aroha o tātou mahi
Let the uniqueness of the child guide our work
The Organisation
Ngā Tamariki Puāwai o Tāmaki |Auckland Kindergarten Association (AKA) has a long history in New Zealand in the Early Childhood Education sector, beginning in 1908 in Freemans Bay. We now have 107 kindergartens, four KiNZ centres five Playgroups, and support services staff forming our organisation.
Ours is a bicultural environment, where the learning framework of Te Whāriki underpins all we do, and where the good of our tamariki and their parents and whānau sits at the very heart of our organisation. At AKA, we provide a safe and enriching early childhood learning environment where children can develop as confident and competent learners. Our kindergartens offer quality Early Childhood Education (ECE) to a diverse range of children. Our Auckland-wide network of kindergartens are places where young Aucklanders get the very best start to prepare for school and beyond - building the foundations for a lifetime of learning.
The kindergarten
Ōwairaka Kindergarten is set in a large leafy garden, down a long driveway back from the road. Tamariki love our outdoor play area - it's inviting and interactive, with natural areas for tamariki to explore, learn and develop their own interests and physical skills. There is plenty of room for running, climbing, jumping and exploring.
Tamariki are encouraged to use their imagination and creativity as they choose how they want to play and what activities they want to engage with. The kaiako work alongside tamariki to encourage and extend their learning through fun project work.
Rich language, early literacy and mathematical concepts are incorporated into our day in our well-resourced kindergarten. Important life skills such as sharing, patience, self-confidence and resilience are supported and encouraged as Tamariki prepare to transition to school.
Our kaiako are dedicated and passionate about, early childhood education, and are looking forward to welcoming their new ECE Kaiako to continue to grow and develop in this collaborative learning environment.
The role
Ōwairaka Kindergarten is currently looking for a part time (31.25 hours) Monday -Friday ECE Kaiako to join us and help us contribute to the high level of service that we are proud to provide our local community.
