Te kōwhiringa | The Opportunity
The Infrastructure Delivery division of Downer NZ delivers multi-disciplined infrastructure solutions throughout New Zealand and the South Pacific, in the road, rail, renewable, marine, and civil sectors. We’ve had some great successes in the past couple of years both nationally and within the Auckland-Northland region!
In the role of Project Engineer, reporting directly to the Project Manager you will be able to manage all aspects of the civil and structural operation. Initially based on our Homai Xing project, you will apply engineering principles to guide the project team, ensuring that the technical aspects of the project are aligned with the agreed standards and specifications.
Key responsibilities will include the following:
- Participate in the management of assigned works, ensuring contract performance meets customer requirements in terms of quality, cost and project timeframes.
- Assist the Project Manager to manage project documentation including contracts, subcontractor and supplier agreements, invoices and claims.
- Ensure that all monthly financial management reporting requirements are met. Complete workload forecasting for the contract.
- Ensure appropriate Project Management Methodology (PMM), safety and quality assurance systems are in place
You will have the opportunity to develop and maintain strong client relationships, liaise with the public and prepare progress and claim reports. You will also have a quality and safety ethos and perform audits and checks to ensure compliance with Health and Safety, quality and environmental policies.
Nga pūkenga matua | Important Skills
We are looking for individuals with the following skills and experience:
- A formal civil engineering qualification (BE, NZCE)
- Proven project engineer experience and a suitable level of experience in the construction industry
- Experience working within a contracting organisation
- Experience in reviewing technical drawings and design
- Excellent organisational skills and demonstrated customer relationship management skills
- Sound project or engineering operations experience, including budget management
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
