Casual Lifeguard | Manurewa Pool & Leisure Centre
Working as a lifeguard is an opportunity for you to make a real difference in the community. Lifeguards are the key to ensuring a safe environment for our customers and are essential to the successful running of our aquatic facilities.

Pool lifeguards are observant, patient, and good with people. Their skill set means they have the confidence to act in a quick, responsible, and calm way.

As a Lifeguard you are responsible for:

• Provide a safe environment through proactive supervision and positive interaction with customers.
• Educate and enforce pool rules.
• Respond to any First Aid emergencies.
• Ensure the pool and surroundings are clean at all times.
• As such, we will provide ALL training for you free of charge and pay you to attend the training.

Our ideal candidate will be available weekdays 5 am – 9:30 pm & weekends 7.30am – 7.30pm - flexibility is key for this opportunity.

He kōrero mōu: About you
We are looking for people of all ages who are strong swimmers, dedicated to helping others, and can commit to full-time work.

Ideally, you will have a current PLPC Certification – we can help you obtain this through training if you don’t currently have this.

To become a lifeguard, you'll need to hold a Pool Lifeguard Practising Certificate and a First Aid certificate. Don't worry, if you're a suitable candidate, we'll provide you with the necessary training at no cost. Training dates will be discussed once successful applicant is hired

Our swim-test includes

• Swim 200m in less than 6 minutes (Any stroke, or a mixture of strokes, can be used)
• Swim 50m breaststroke
• Swim 25m sidestroke
• Retrieve objects from the deepest part of the 2m pool (depth varies across centres)
• Tread water for 5 minutes

In addition to your swimming skills, we're looking for individuals with proven administration and communication skills, a track record of providing outstanding customer service, and excellent maturity and reliability.
