Health and Safety Advisor - Waikato & Bay of Plenty
Location: Waikato & Bay of Plenty (occasional travel across the North Island)

About the Opportunity
OneStaff Tauranga is hiring a Health and Safety Advisor on behalf of our client. This role requires a proactive professional to oversee workplace safety across multiple sites. You will play a key role in ensuring compliance, engaging employees in safety culture, and improving safety practices. Travel across the North Island may be required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct site audits to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Implement and oversee Safety & Behavioral Observation Systems (SBOS).
  • Assist in incident investigations and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure effective communication with internal teams and external clients regarding safety matters.
  • Resolve conflicts and de-escalate workplace challenges.
  • Conduct drug & alcohol testing to enforce a zero-tolerance policy.
  • Develop strategies for safety discussions during toolbox meetings.
  • Attend client Health & Safety meetings to align safety practices.


Ideal Candidate

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage across all levels.
  • A proactive approach to identifying and addressing safety concerns.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to navigate complex safety issues.
  • A go-getter mentality, thriving in fast-paced environments.
  • NEBOSH IGC or equivalent certification in Occupational Health and Safety.


Additional Details

  • Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 08:00 - 16:30 (flexibility required).
  • Occasional weekend work may be necessary.
  • Overtime opportunities available with flexible working arrangements.
  • Autonomous role, requiring self-management and time efficiency.
