What will you do?

We are on the lookout for a Sustainability Manager to join our Christchurch team to lead the way in ensuring a sustainable future for Ryman, and embed sustainable decision making across all areas of our organisation.

In this role, you will lead the development and implementation of Ryman's sustainability framework, enhancing Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) outcomes and driving progress towards our sustainability goals.

You will work closely with other key parts of the organisation, and you will play a critical role in helping Ryman meet its sustainability obligations while driving internal engagement and fostering a culture of sustainability. You will inspire teams across the organisation to integrate sustainable practices into their daily operations and decision-making, ensuring that our long-term strategies align with our ESG commitments. Additionally, you will identify opportunities for innovation, influence policy development, and collaborate with stakeholders to position Ryman as a leader in sustainable retirement living.

Other key responsibilities but are not limited to:

  • Identify and prioritise sustainability goals based on Ryman's operational needs
  • Plan and manage the annual sustainability report and climate related disclosures
  • Oversee initiatives across the business that support the company's ESG goals and reduce its environmental footprint
  • Monitor and maintain accuracy of the relevant data and environmental metrics
  • Keeping up to date with the latest legislation, regulation and reporting obligations, ensuring that Ryman's reporting remains best in class

Who are you?

  • You have a Bachelor's degree in sustainability, science or commerce
  • You have a minimum 5 years' experience in a similar role
  • You have a clear passion for sustainability and have a proven track record of effectively creating and implementing sustainability frameworks in large organisations; you think outside the box and can deliver change
  • You have exceptional communication skills and demonstrate the ability to influence others and positively change mindsets
  • You value people and kindness, and are passionate about learning and delivering excellent results
  • You strive for excellence and constantly look for ways to exceed expectations; delivering a high-quality service at speed will be second nature
  • You believe in the value of strong, positive, trusting teams who work together as one
  • You are resilient and can demonstrate composure under pressure.
