What you'll do:


As an Assistant Accountant, your main responsibility will be to back the Finance Team by guaranteeing all financial data is precise, dependable, and delivered promptly. You will play a vital role in preparing mid-year and full year financial statements, as well as backing the Financial Controller in analysing financial trends. Your capability to manage daily banking and cash-flow will be crucial to this role. Additionally, you will have the chance to engage in ad hoc projects that bolster the finance function.

  • Provide support for month-end reporting including transaction processing and monthly reconciliations
  • Assist in preparing information for mid-year and full year financial statements
  • Ensure precision of financial data in reports
  • Manage daily finance inbox for queries and submissions, escalating issues promptly
  • Support the Financial Controller in analysing financial trends
  • Oversee daily banking and cash-flow management
  • Maintain fixed assets register
  • Engage in ad hoc projects that bolster the finance function
  • Support annual and mid-year external audit processes


What you bring:


The ideal candidate for this Assistant Accountant position will bring a wealth of knowledge from previous roles or academic qualifications. You should be studying towards or already hold a Chartered Accountant status with CA ANZ or a similar professional qualification. Your proficiency in Microsoft Office and accounting systems (BC 365 preferred) will be essential to your success in this role. Your excellent problem-solving skills, combined with your ability to work both independently and as part of a team, will make you an invaluable asset to our client's finance team.

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or relevant experience in a similar role
  • Studying towards or holding qualified Chartered Accountant status with CA ANZ or a similar professional qualification (preferred)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Proficiency in accounting systems (BC 365 preferred)
  • Good problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Intermediate / advanced Excel skills
  • Must have the legal right to work in New Zealand
